Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for information to help locate Alex Manuel as part of their investigation into a fatal stabbing in Chelsea Heights on Monday. The 27-year-old Frankston man is a person of interest to police following the discovery of a critically injured man in the car park of a licensed premise on Springvale Road about 3.35am on 18 June. A SEARCH of a home in Mordialloc has allegedly turned up over $100,000 worth of drugs. A 24-year-old Mordialloc woman was arrested on 13 June and charged with a number of drug related offences after the search. She was bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 14 November. Search warrants were executed at two addresses on 13 July. It is alleged that a house on White Street, Mordialloc contained steroids, ecstasy, prescription medications, a large quantity of cash, a handgun, and a carpet python. OPERATION Regal, a roadside police operation which ran over the long weekend, saw police nab a number of misbehaving drivers. With close to 9000 traffic offences recorded statewide, drivers in the Kingston municipality did not escape trouble. 325 Kingston drivers were caught misbehaving by police. 131 were given infringements for speeding offences, while 13 people were caught on their phones while driving. Police also found 40 unregistered vehicles. Police caught 10 unlicensed drivers, seven disqualified drivers, and had eight people blow over the legal blood alcohol limit. 10 Kingston drivers returned a positive oral fluid test. THE Victorian Electoral Commission have begun a review into the structure of Kingston Council. The electoral representation review will determine whether Kingston Council has an appropriate number of councillors, and whether it should remain subdivided into wards. If it is determined that council should remain split into wards, the number of wards and how many councillors per ward will also be reviewed. Kingston Council currently has nine councillors split into three wards. Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said that reviews into council structures are generally required every 12 years. THE story of The Sapphires is set to be told at the Kingston Arts Centre next month. The now famous Australian play, written by Tony Briggs and first performed in 2004, tells the tale of four young Indigenous Australian women who tour Vietnam during the war. The four performers travel across the country to sing. The play is set in 1968, a year after the 1967 referendum that expanded the rights of Indigenous Australians.
