GRANTS of up to $5000 will be available for Frankston business owners to put towards refurbishing their shopfronts. A FRANKSTON council push to introduce a pet ownership test has not been resolved at the May MAV state council meeting. At the meeting of the councils, Frankston Council submitted a motion that read “that the MAV advocates to the Victorian State Government for the need to introduce a mandatory Responsible Pet Ownership Test for the public to complete (to an acceptable standard) in order to own given pets. OUTGOING Dunkley MP Chris Crewther has conceded his seat to Labor’s Peta Murphy. Mr Crewther rang Ms Murphy on Friday to concede defeat, having fallen 4.8 per cent behind her on a two party preferred basis with 84.5 per cent of the vote counted. Police are investigating following a number of petrol thefts in Moorabbin and Frankston earlier this month. Investigators have been told that a woman driving a Mercedes SUV with false numberplates attended a service station on Centre Dandenong Road, Moorabbin about 8.40pm on Sunday 12 May. The woman filled the vehicle and left without making any attempt to pay. Police believe the same vehicle may have been involved in another petrol theft in Frankston. Investigators were told a 27-year-old man in a silver 2018 Ford Ranger ute was tailgated and threatened from Cranbourne to Keysborough by the driver of a blue 2006 Holden Berlina sedan. Police believe the offender was travelling with a female passenger and attempted to swerve into the victim’s vehicle near Hammond Road and Eastlink in Dandenong South about 9.45am.
