A woman has had her car impounded and licence suspended after rendezvousing with the Somerville Highway Patrol in Frankston last night. Two highway patrol units were parked on the side of Frankston – Flinders Road when a woman pulled in behind them just before 11pm. Police asked the woman whether she was okay and needed assistance and she said she was fine. The Frankston woman remained in her car behind the police so the officers decided to perform a breath test. She returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.236. A man has died after being struck by an emergency vehicle in Frankston this morning. It is believed the Mercedes van was travelling west on Cranbourne Road, near Wattle Tree Lane when it struck a man on the road just before 2.30am. The yet to be formally identified man was treated at the scene but died before being taken to hospital. Police will prepare a report for the coroner. MORNINGTON Little Athletics Centre topped off their year with their very own junior version of the Stawell Gift, the Christmas Handicap, on Saturday 8 December. Junior athletes from under-6s through to under-16s competed in the junior (under-6 to under-8) and senior (under-9 to under-16) handicapped races over 100m at the Mornington Secondary College in hopes of claiming the annual MLAC Christmas Handicap title.
