CENTENARIAN Peggy Tucker celebrated her birthday in a unique way last week. Tucker (pictured) turned 103 last Tuesday, 18 July. A birthday party was held for her at Carrum Downs Senior Citizens’ Club. Tucker celebrated the milestone with an unorthodox afternoon – she was taken for a spin in a Harley Davidson. With 103 years of experience behind her, Tucker has accomplished a lot in life. FOOTBALLERS across the Mornington Peninsula donned blue armbands last weekend to commemorate lives lost on the road. The TAC and AFL Victoria teamed up for the annual road safety round last weekend. Clubs statewide were encouraged to wear armbands to raise awareness for road safety and remember those who have died in road accidents. A SERPENTINE sculpture has been installed at the Frankston Arts Centre’s Glass Cube gallery. Caroline Graley’s Resurgence is a multimedia exhibition centered around a large swirling sculpture. The sculpture was created using painted MDF panels, and is illuminated by video projections and accompanied by music. Graley’s work Curve has been displayed at the gallery previously. Her latest work is part of an ongoing series exploring the movement of dance. Graley has studied classical ballet and creative dance. A CARRUM kindergarten has become one of just 35 centres nationally to be awarded the top rank from the Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority. Carrum Family and Children’s Centre has been awarded an “excellent” rating from the ACECQA. A COMMUNITY bus is now transporting people to a food bank to help them stay fed during the cost-of-living crisis. AccessCare, an organisation which supports older people and people with disabilities living at home, is now sending its community bus to Pantry 5000. The food bank runs at the Longreach Anglican Parish in Carrum. The AccessCare service runs every second week.
