Detectives from Frankston Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team and the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team have arrested a man following a joint investigation into alleged child exploitation offences. The 63-year-old man was today arrested after a warrant was executed at a Seaford property. Police also seized electronic equipment at the scene. The man has been charged with procuring and grooming a child under 16 for sexual activity, using a carriage service to transmit an indecent communication, and breaching his sex offender registration obligations. MENTONE Optical Service is making an effort to divert their contact lenses, blister packs, and cases from landfill as part of a national recycling program. The optometrist is collecting all brands of used contacts, blister packs, and cases to ship them off to be shredded, cleaned, and melted down into raw materials. The raw material can be used for many different purposes, including to create playgrounds, garden beds, and park benches. PARKDALE Secondary College could be set to receive a $9.6 million dollar funding boost if the Andrews Labor Government is re-elected in November. The state government has promised the funds to the Mordialloc school to upgrade the main classroom wing, the woodwork and drama building, and the home economics and science block. AN experienced Pt Leo surfer paddled out to rescue a teenage girl stranded in choppy and gusty conditions last week. Hastings police Sergeant John Cannon said the girl, 18, got into trouble on her board at popular break “Suicides” just north of the Pt Leo Lifesaving Club, 12.45pm, Tuesday 11 September. She had been surfing with a friend when they got into difficulties in the strong north wind and current and was exhausted.
