TRADIES’ tools are being stolen in increasing numbers – and that’s frustrating police who say simple precautions would remove the temptation to thieves and make their jobs easier. A DOG walker at a Mentone beach was allegedly assaulted by another owner who accused him of kicking his dog, 6.30pm, Friday 9 March. Detectives at Kingston CIU said the dog walker, a 48-year-old Cheltenham man, and his eight-month-old Labrador were walking up the ramp to the car park when an unknown man abused him, followed him to his car, and “began swinging punches”. An off-duty police officer fought off a man armed with a knife in an attempted aggravated carjacking in Frankston. The incident took place on Ashleigh Avenue when the man, armed with a knife allegedly tried to steal a car which was parked in a car space at the local shops just after 8pm on Tuesday evening (13 March). POLICE are seeking any information on senseless vandalism at the newly built Ballam Park East Pavilion on 24 February, the day after it was opened. Windows and lights were smashed and graffiti sprayed on walls at the $3.07 million home of the Karingal Bulls Football Netball Club and Long Island Cricket Club.
