A GROUP of 80 young people at Moorabbin Air Museum are working hard to promote aviation to kids as part of their work with the Winjeels Club. Winjeels has been running for six years, and now boasts 80 members. The group’s members meet every Saturday to present skill-based play and learning activities about aviation to young kids. The Winjeels Club is for young people aged between 12 and 20. THE Presets will perform in Frankston as part of their 20-year anniversary tour next month. The DJ duo will perform at the Pier Bandroom in Frankston on Saturday, 15 July. The police Air Wing has assisted members on the ground to arrest two riders on allegedly stolen motorcycles in Berwick and Frankston overnight. In the first incident Dandenong police first spotted the rider on Heatherton Road in Dandenong, failing to stop for traffic lights and travelling at speed just before 5.30pm. The Air Wing was brought in to assist unmarked units on the ground as the bike travelled through Dandenong, Casey and Knox police service areas before the rider pulled up to a home Berwick. HOMES for people living with significant mental health difficulties will be built in Frankston. The residences will be built by The Haven Foundation in partnership with Mind Australia. The state government is supporting the project as part of its $5.3 billion “Big Housing Build” initiative. Haven houses are self-contained one bedroom homes with a built in wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen, lounge room and outdoor courtyard or balcony. There are shared community spaces and onsite overnight facilities nearby for specialist mental health support staff. CUSTOM glasses will be sold next week to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation’s Indigenous Australia Program. The program aims to make eye care more accessible for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. To raise money for it, Specsavers Cheltenham East is selling a new glasses design and donating a portion of the proceeds. The glasses (pictured above) are designed by Martu artist Helen Dale Samson.
