KINGSTON Council is planning the future for its 116 public playgrounds. Drop-in sessions are being hosted for the next two weeks to discuss the future of local play spaces. A WORLD War II veteran received three certificates honouring him for his service at a special event this month. 103-year-old Geoff Bydder lives in Seaford with his wife Normie. At an event hosted at Vasey RSL Care Frankston South earlier this month, Bydder received his RAAF and Army Service certificates. Dunkley MP Peta Murphy also awarded him a Commonwealth Certificate of Appreciation. Bydder signed up to the Royal Australian Air Force on 29 April 1940, before joining the Australian Army just under a year later. Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a heartless thief stole furniture from a charity home about to go under the hammer in Carrum Downs. Police received reports that numerous pieces of staging furniture were taken from the Sky Way address that is due to go to auction this Saturday. Investigators believe the burglar parked their vehicle in the garage and loaded numerous items such as artwork, lamps and linen into their vehicle before driving off sometime between 20 and 26 May.
