Winston will be joining students from across the state in the School Sport Victoria State Team following a selection process which started in November last year. With three events this season being SSV selection races, the competitor’s two best places were used to select a team of six athletes for the 12-13 years age group. A MINI-MOTORBIKE rider has pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run fatality that killed a mother-of-two at Carrum Downs shopping centre in September 2015. Caleb Jakobsson, now 20 but aged 18 at the time of the tragedy, changed his plea to guilty last week and was further remanded to face court in May on charges of culpable driving causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Gallery director John Cunningham met representatives of the artists’ guilds on Studio Park, Langwarrin in February to advise their time was up. McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park has been home since the 1970s to guilds of artists, lapidarists, spinners, weavers and woodturners, bringing thousands of students and practitioners of each discipline through the gallery gates. Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a burglary at a storage facility in Seaford last month. It is believed three males driving what is believed to be a stolen silver Mazda Protégé attended a storage facility on Hi-Tech Place about 6.40am on 19 February. A number of storage units were forced open and various items were taken. Police have since located what they believe to be the vehicle involved in the incident. OBJECTIONS against the redevelopment of Moorabbin Reserve have been dropped and the $28.4 million project will begin soon ahead of St Kilda Football Club’s move back to its “spiritual home”. The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal had agreed late last year to hear an appeal arguing the demolition and rebuilding of the Linton St premises would mean the club may have to reapply for a licence for its 83 pokies machines at the venue.
