Southern Metropolitan Region officers supported by specialist police coordinated the successful arrest of an alleged armed offender following a car-jacking in Frankston and subsequent pursuit overnight. Police have been told the victim was threatened with a handgun, in the driveway of a business in Ashley Avenue, and his Hyundai ix35 stolen about 12.45am. Somerville Highway Patrol members spotted the stolen car nearby and followed from a distance before officers, making a risk assessment, initiated a pursuit. A MAN claiming to have a fire arm demanded money from an attendant at the Beach St, Frankston, 7-Eleven store, 1am, Wednesday 8 June. He ran off when it was refused. The man, pictured, is described as Islander, aged 18-25, 170cm tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark jacket with white hood, Adidas runners and torn jeans. UP to 30 Islander and Sudanese youths turned a Frankston 16-year-old’s party into a war zone, Friday 3 June. Police said the youths – many sporting bandanas and possibly gang colours – smashed windows and burnt holes in the walls and carpets, smashed the headlight of the family car and stole various items, including mobile phones. Various other guests were assaulted, with one 16-year-old staggering along the street and collapsing outside the house of a neighbour, who called an ambulance. THE state government may be facing anti-sky rail protests but it is happy to welcome a SkyBus to Frankston. SkyBus has taken over the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula to Tullamarine Airport shuttle route. It offers free travel to children, online ticketing and smartphone ticket access. The cost is $38 one way. The service takes in Frankston, Mt Eliza, Mornington, Dromana, and Rosebud.
