THE historic 75-year-old steam train K163 is ready to fire up this Sunday 17 April for a kids fun run at Moorooduc railway station, on Moorooduc Highway alongside Mt Eliza Regional Park (Melway 105/K9). From 10am-1 pm children aged three to 12 will be able to run alongside the locomotive into the station on a purpose built and secure track. Distances will vary with age from 150 metres to 1200 metres. A “COWARDLY attack” on a Frankston man has appalled detectives. The 44-year-old was walking alone on Murawa St, Frankston, 7.15pm, Sunday 27 March, when he was knocked to the ground by a roundhouse punch and robbed of his wallet. He sustained a broken jaw and spent several days in Frankston Hospital receiving treatment. The offenders – described as “two young males” – ran away while their victim lay on the ground. RESIDENTS and ratepayers are being urged to provide feedback on their preferred method of hard waste collection in the city. A poll is being conducted online and a paper ballot being held at the Frankston Council’s customer service centres. Police are investigating following the discovery of a body at Mordialloc overnight. Police and emergency services responded to reports of a fire at a White Street residential complex about 12.50am. Fire crews arrived to find a second storey unit fully engulfed and worked to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters located a body inside the unit and notified police.
