DERRIMUT Weelam Gathering Place in Mordialloc has organised free water safety lessons for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The program was run by Mordialloc Life Saving Club lifeguards. Students learned about ocean conditions and water safety. KINGSTON Council is forming a new community panel to consult with in the next two years. Kingston, Represent will consist of 220 people. Business owners, community group founders, and residents will be invited to take part. Panel members will provide feedback through online forums, take part in workshops, and will be paid an allowance for attendance at in-person events. FRANKSTON Council has asked residents to make their priorities known before it forms its 2023/2024 budget. A portal on the Engage Frankston website has now opened which features 12 “budget focus areas”. Submitters can allocate points to the areas that are most important to them. A WOMAN is wanted for stealing a ring from a jewellery store in Frankston. Police allege the woman tried on a silver ring at the shop on 5 January, then left without attempting to pay. In a statement, police say the offender is “female, aged in her early 40s with long dark hair”. She was wearing a dark green dress with a white shirt. THE federal government will provide a little under $744,000 to Frankston Council to improve local roads and infrastructure. Council can use the funds from July.
