CRICKET PROVINCIAL LANGWARRIN picked up a good win over Sorrento on Saturday. On day two, Langwarrin were chasing a total of 225. THE deputy mayor was kicked out of the room by the mayor during a debate about the future of Long Street Reserve at last week’s Frankston Council meeting. SUSPENDED Frankston councillor Steven Hughes is facing more allegations of serious misconduct. Hughes has defied an arbiter’s order to apologise to council staff for his handling of a petition last year. Arbiter Matthew Evans found that Hughes had failed to treat council staff with “dignity, fairness, objectivity, courtesy, and respect”. The deadline for the apology has passed, and Hughes has refused to say sorry. WITH a referendum on an Indigenous Voice to Parliament expected sometime this year, Kingston Council has publicly endorsed the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The Uluru Statement from the Heart was launched in 2017. The statement calls for the establishment of an Indigenous Voice in Australia’s constitution to advise on future laws and other matters of significance. FRANKSTON Council assessed at least ten different sites before deciding that Long Street Reserve should house a new kindergarten. In October last year, all nine Frankston councillors voted to nominate Long Street Reserve in Langwarrin as their preferred site for a new kindergarten. The vote was taken behind closed doors, and once the plans were publicly revealed the Langwarrin community began to protest.
