THE former International Motel site in Frankston could soon be home to an expensive state government office building. A $49 million office building for 450 employees is proposed to be built at 383 Nepean Highway. The state government has signed a lease agreement with property group Castlerock, who will deliver the project. If it moves ahead, the site is expected to house the Department of Justice and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. FRANKSTON residents are being asked to contribute ideas to help mitigate the local effects of climate change. Frankston Council is drafting a climate change strategy for the next decade. The strategy will outline opportunities to reduce emissions and combat the growing danger of climate change. Last year a report released by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change spelled out the grave dangers of climate change. MPNFL DIVISION ONE MT Eliza gave their premiership hopes a huge boost on Saturday with a hard fought win over Sorrento. The Redlegs and Sharks are both in the mix for finals football this year. A PERMIT has been granted to build a childcare centre on Overport Road. The proposal to build a childcare centre at 137 Overport Road was rejected by Frankston Council in November last year. Earlier this month the developer won its appeal to have the decision overturned. The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal has handed developer ASL a permit to use the land to build a childcare centre on, subject to certain conditions being met. KINGSTON Council has asked the state government to stump up cash for the planned upgrade of Walter Galt Reserve in Mordialloc. Council has publicly called for the state government to contribute funding towards a redeveloped pavilion at Walter Galt Reserve. It is hoping to extend the existing building so it can host more female-friendly changerooms. The existing changerooms will also receive upgrades. The total cost of the upgrade is expected to be around $2.3 million.
