FOR the first time in nearly a decade, nobody died in an accident on Frankston roads last year. Before 2022, the last year which did not feature any fatalities on roads in the Frankston local government area was 2013. A PANEL will assess proposed changes to Kingston Council’s planning guidelines next year. Council has been working on its housing strategy and neighbourhood character study for the last five years. The strategy will shape the size of future residential developments. It is now seeking a planning scheme amendment to incorporate the strategy into its planning controls. An independent planning panel, appointed by the state government, will consider the strategy next year. DON Tatnell Leisure Centre will be knocked down next year. The Parkdale aquatic centre shut in February 2020 after structural issues were discovered. Kingston Council’s decision to replace the pool at a new site instead of rebuilding the existing centre sparked community protest. THE number of reported family violence incidents in the Kingston local government area continues to rise. Victoria’s Crime Statistics Agency put out its latest summary of statistics last week. It found that reported family violence incidents in Kingston had grown for a fourth consecutive year. There were 1886 reported incidents between September 2021 and September 2022, a 7.6 per cent increase on the previous year. Women were the recorded victims of domestic violence 1413 times in the last year in Kingston. Men were the victims on 448 occasions. CRICKET PROVINCIAL BAXTER overcame a first innings loss to grab an outright win against Sorrento on day two of their match on Saturday On day one, Baxter succumbed to a brutal first innings defeat. They were bowled out for 63 in response to Sorrento’s 110. Sorrento made a second innings total of 7/137.
