KINGSTON Council has released draft plans for the skyrail precinct in Parkdale. The state government will build rail over road to replace the level crossings at Warrigal Road in Mentone and Parkers Road in Parkdale, building a new Parkdale Station in the process. WITH the election now in the rear-view mirror, federal funding has not been committed to the planned Pines Forest Aquatic Centre upgrade. Neither major party candidate committed to the project during the election campaign. Frankston Council has been advocating for funding for the upgrade, naming it as a priority project. The planned upgrade is projected to cost around $31 million. OFF the back of securing federal funding for a major redevelopment for its stadium, the Frankston District Basketball Association has won Basketball Victoria’s association of the year award. The FDBA has successfully lobbied for funding for the Frankston Basketball Stadium. Frankston Council will contribute $15 million to the project. THE seat of Isaacs has been retained by the Labor Party. Labor has held the seat since 1996. Incumbent MP Mark Dreyfus has been the local member since 2007. As of 22 May, Dreyfus is nearly 10,000 votes ahead of Liberal Robbie Beaton on a two-party-preferred basis. The count started off close but swung further towards Dreyfus throughout the night. Labor will form government. Dreyfus is expected to serve as attorney-general under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
