A PLANNED funding cut to the Frankston Toy Library has been delayed by Frankston Council. Earlier this year, Frankston councillors agreed to slash the annual grant funding given to the not-for-profit toy library from more than $25,000 a year to $15,000. At a meeting last week council backtracked, agreeing to continue providing the original amount for another year. At the same meeting Cr Steven Hughes raised a proposal to provide further funding to the Frankston Toy Library, but his motion was voted down 7-2. OWNERS of residential properties in Frankston could be hit with a rate increase of nearly four percent if council’s draft budget is approved. Frankston Council approved its draft budget for the 2022/2023 financial year at a meeting last week. It will now be sent out to consultation before coming back for final approval. A 3.91 per cent increase on average will apply to rates collected on residential properties in Frankston. TENSIONS appear to be growing between some Frankston councillors, with a lengthy debate at last week’s public meeting prompting the mayor to warn councillors to behave. SEVEN candidates will be on the ballot in the electorate of Isaacs at next month’s federal election. The deadline has passed for candidates to nominate for the federal election. Ballots were drawn last week. Mark Dreyfus will recontest the seat for the Labor Party. He has been the member for Isaacs since 2007. Labor has held the seat since 1996. Former Bridge Hotel operator Robbie Beaton is the Liberal Party candidate. There are no independents contesting Isaacs at this election. MPNFL DIVISION ONE SORRENTO kicked 26 goals to secure a dominant win over Edithvale-Aspendale last weekend. Sorrento were brilliant on their home deck. Goals flowed freely throughout the afternoon, with the Edi-Asp defence struggling to deal with Sorrento’s forward firepower. Leigh Poholke was awesome for the Sharks. He booted eight goals.
