NEW guidelines for the future of housing in the Kingston municipality have finally been sent to the planning minister for approval. Kingston Council’s draft housing strategy and neighbourhood character study was first endorsed for consultation in April 2019, and has been in the works longer than that. A 2021 draft of the strategy saw 77.24 per cent of land in the Kingston municipality zoned “neighbourhood residential”, limiting development to two storeys. THE decision to hand over management of the Frankston Skate Park to Peninsula Leisure has drawn criticism from skaters. Late last month, Frankston Council voted to install Peninsula Leisure as manager of the park after a “service review”. It will pay a little more than $1 million for five years of management. Peninsula Leisure is owned by Frankston Council, but operated independently. It manages the Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre. The skate park is currently managed by the Victorian YMCA. THE Frankston Station multi-storey car park is finally under construction. Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke has confirmed that construction is underway on the long-awaited project. The Victorian Labor party first announced financial support for the 500 capacity car park in 2018. Edbrooke says that parking in the new facility will be free. “I’m excited that construction is underway on yet another local project that our community asked for and I am delivering. MPNFL DIVISION ONE SORRENTO picked up a good win last weekend to finish Round 17 in fifth place, but they may need to beat the premiership favourites to secure their finals spot. The Sharks travelled to play last-place Bonbeach on Saturday. Both sides were all square after the first term, but Sorrento soon showed their quality. A DINGLEY Village woman has died from injuries sustained in a car crash last month. The 84-year-old was driving a Toyota Camry on Westall Road in Springvale South on 17 July when the crash occurred. A little after 12pm, the Camry collided with a Toyota Prado. The Camry driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. On 3 August, Victoria Police announced that she had died in hospital. The other driver, a 59-year-old man from Mulgrave, was not injured in the crash. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. They have asked anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage…
