ANOTHER protest demanding action on Elly Warren’s death will be held this month. On 10 December, protesters will meet at attorney-general Mark Dreyfus’ office to demand an inquiry into Elly Warren’s death. Warren died in suspicious circumstances in Mozambique in 2016. Warren was born in Mordialloc. Family, friends, and supporters of the cause protested earlier this month at Victorian Parliament House demanding justice. An inquest into Warren’s death ordered by Australia authorities in 2020 has not produced an outcome. Elly Warren’s father Paul says that he has “lost confidence in the Coroner’s Court”. A PANEL will consider proposed changes to planning controls within the Endeavour Cove precinct, Kingston Council says. Kingston Council has been drafting new planning controls for the Patterson Lakes site. At a meeting last week, councillors agreed to ask the planning minister to appoint an independent panel to consider the proposed changes. Planning scheme amendment C205 would grant council greater powers within the Endeavour Cove. It would introduce a planning permit requirement for some developments that are currently exempt. LABOR has comfortably retained the seats of Carrum, Mordialloc, and Frankston on its way to a decisive election win. The state government has been returned with a majority in the lower house. It is projected to retain its “sandbelt” seats despite a swing towards the Liberals in each. Carrum MP Sonya Kilkenny has won a third term in office. A 14-STOREY tower looks likely to be built on Nepean Highway in Frankston. At a meeting last week, Frankston Council gave a tick of approval to plans for the 14 storey development. It has asked for slight amendments to the plans before it can proceed, but it is not asking for a height reduction. The 14-storey building, planned for 446-450 Nepean Highway, would be mixed use.
