A LONG vacant building on Playne Street is set to be filled by a bowling alley. The site has been vacant for more than five years. Savers was the last occupant of the building, which will soon house a General Public. PENINSULA LONG Island have taken the chocolates against Heatherhill in a high scoring one day clash. Heatherhill chose to bat first, and played well. Kristian Miller was their best performer, scoring 95 runs before being run out. After their 40 overs, Heatherhill finished at 7/198. A MAN has been arrested after an alleged shooting in Carrum Downs last month. Police were told that a man walking along Cadles Road was approached by a person with a gun, who then fired a shot at him. The victim was not hit, but was then allegedly run into by a driver in a black Ford. The alleged incident happened just after 8am, 16 February. On 26 February, a 29-year-old Cranbourne West man was arrested and charged with reckless conduct endangering life and intentionally cause serious injury. KINGSTON Council has agreed to order a report into the safety of Bay Trail works. On 24 February council voted to “prepare a report (…) detailing the number and nature of safety related incidents that have occurred during the construction phase of the Baytrail. The report should include matters that relate to safe work practices and road safety and should detail the responses and remedies that have taken place as a result.” The report may not proceed though, with three councillors moving to rescind the motion. A PARKDALE swimming pool will be permanently closed after it was deemed unsafe by council. Don Tatnell Leisure Centre has been shut down after the discovery of what council says were “serious structural issues”. “Recently council detected issues at the centre during maintenance works on pipework under the pool.
