THE expansion of public transport services in Frankston has been listed as a “priority initiative” in a newly released Infrastructure Australia document. Infrastructure Australia’s updated priority list reads that “optimising the existing bus network, increasing bus service frequency and coverage” and “upgrades to rail services and infrastructure” have been identified as potential improvements to Frankston. The list of projects and initiatives identified as “priority” or “high priority” by Infrastructure Australia features nearly 150 proposals from across the country. OPPOSITION to the eviction of Launching Way from the Patterson River boat ramp has been voiced on the floor of state parliament. Trevor and Lynette Hogan, owners of Launching Way, have been told to vacate their site by 31 March. KINGSTON Council has identified 14 development applications made in the last 15 years involving parties named in the IBAC investigation which toppled Casey Council. An investigation undertaken by the state’s peak anti-corruption body has looked into alleged corruption at Casey Council, and alleged financial ties between councillors and developer John Woodman. AFTER months of turmoil following an investigation into alleged corruption, Casey Council has been sacked. All councillors were dismissed last week by the state government. The dismissal came after a state government appointed municipal monitor recommended that the entire council be removed. An interim administrator will run the council for a 90 day period. DISCUSSION about a report which evaluated the behaviour and governance of Frankston Council ended with a heated argument and a councillor storming out of a meeting last week. At Frankston Council’s 17 February meeting, councillors discussed their correspondence to the local government minister in response to the findings of the municipal monitor’s report. The monitor was appointed by the state government to investigate council’s governance, and came at a cost of over $100,000 to ratepayers.
