THE new aquatic centre in Mordialloc has got the green light to go ahead. Kingston Council has confirmed that the planning permit application for the new aquatic centre has been approved. After it appoints a construction contractor, building will begin.The pool is expected to be operational in 2026. The land at 1-7 Wells Road, across from Jack Grut Reserve, cost council $14.6 million. PROVINCIAL RED Hill smashed Pines last week to claim the MPCA Provincial division premiership.Pat Rollo Reserve hosted the Grand Final last Saturday and Sunday. Red Hill batted first on day one, and put 172 runs on the board. Simon Dart top scored with 55 runs before he was given out for obstructing the field.Pines’ run chase on day two was disastrous. A PLAN to replace a Frankston gun shop with an apartment building has been approved by a narrow majority of Frankston councillors.The proposed eight-storey building at 59-61 Playne Street features 60 dwellings and a shop. The plan is 34 metres tall, which is below the preferred height limit of 44 metres in the 2015 FMAC structure plan. The new building would be built on the current home of Mialls Gun Shop. JASON Ruscoe will spend at least 10 years and six months behind bars for the hit-and-run killing of traffic controller Timmy Rakei in Carrum Downs.Rakei, 44, was struck and killed by a speeding car while working in Carrum Downs on the morning of 9 November 2021. Two days later, police arrested Ruscoe over the crash.Last Thursday, 14 March, 31-year-old Ruscoe was sentenced in the County Court to 16 years and 3 months imprisonment.
