PUBLIC hearings into alleged sexual abuse committed at Beaumaris Primary School and other government schools began this week. Hearings took place on 23 and 24 October as part of the Beaumaris Inquiry. The inquiry is assessing allegations of sexual abuse involving multiple staff members at Beaumaris Primary School during the 1960s and 1970s. Other schools named within the scope of the investigation include Chelsea Heights Primary School and Aspendale Primary School. KINGSTON Council recorded a surplus of more than $32 million in the last financial year. Kingston Council has released its annual report for the 2022/2023 financial year. The report revealed that council posted an operating surplus of $32.7 million. Council spent more than $244.6 million in 2022/2023. Around $65 million was spent on infrastructure projects. THE Frankston Football Club has appointed a new senior coach. Jackson Kornberg has been handed a three-year deal to coach the VFL side. Kornberg has spent the last two years at reigning VFL premiers Gold Coast. Kornberg will be the Dolphins’ first full-time senior coach. THE danger of rising sea levels has inspired Frankston students to team up with French students on a documentary. Frankston High School students have been working on the film since 2019. They have been liaising with students from French coastal community Lycée Morlaix to complete the project. The film is a 45-minute documentary on rising seas.
