THE Frankston train line extension has been axed by the federal government. The previous Coalition federal government committed $225 million to the project in 2018. Later that year, opposition transport spokesman Anthony Albanese and Dunkley candidate Peta Murphy, now the Prime Minister and member for Dunkley respectively, announced that Labor would support the project if it won government. JENNA Davey-Burns is the new mayor of Kingston Council. Davey-Burns was one of six new councillors elected at the 2020 local government elections. She has since served as deputy mayor, and on 8 November was promoted to the role of mayor. Davey-Burns will take over the job from outgoing mayor Hadi Saab. Tracey Davies was elected deputy mayor – this is the first time women have occupied both mayoral roles at the same time in Kingston Council’s history. TWO actors from Frankston’s BAM Arts have won awards for their performances in a short film. BAM Arts is a creative arts and performance group for people with disabilities. It entered a short film into this year’s Focus On Ability Short Film Festival Awards. At the awards night in Sydney earlier this month, actors Kimba Wall and Pheobe Nowak shared the best actor award. CRICKET PROVINCIAL A MASSIVE 132 run opening stand between Aiden McKenna and Thomas Matson has put Long Island in a strong position against Old Peninsula. McKenna and Matson batted for most of the day. McKenna scored 70 from 161 deliveries, and Matson scored 92 from 199.
