LAST Monday night the Frankston Mechanics’ Hall was crowded with friends and well-wishers who assembled to say farewell to Mr and Mrs A. G. Wilcox. The popularity of the guests was testified to by the large and representative attendance, accounted for by the fact that during a long residence in Frankston both Mr and Mrs Wilcox have proved admirable citizens in every way. AT Frankston last Monday night the initial meeting took place of the sub-committee appointed to give effect to the resolutions passed at the public meeting held at Seaford last month to secure the improvement of the Kananook Creek. The following representatives were present: Crs W. P. Mason and J. B. WHILE driving along the Tyabb road with their father in a buggy on November 15, 1919, Frederick Lewis Davis and Benjamin Shersby Davis, orchardists, of Hastings, heard the report of a shot gun from the bush on the north side about two miles from Tyabb, and felt the sting of pellets. Both sons were shot in the eye, and received wounds in other parts of the body. Subsequently a man came out-of the bush carrying a shot gun and a dead rabbit. MR and Mrs Adderly of Langwarrin suffered a sad bereavement in the loss of their daughter, Erica, aged 12 years, whose death took place on the 21st May in Melbourne, where she had been taking the day previously for expert treatment. Death was due to Bright’s disease. The funeral, which took place on Monday, at the Frankston cemetery, was attended by her late schoolmates from Langwarrin State school. A CONCERT in aid of School Funds was given by the pupils of the Somerville State School on Monday night, May 24th. The programme was a lengthy one and reflects great credit on the teachers and scholars. The organising of a school concert entails a vast amount of work and unlimited patience, and the teachers, Mr. Uren and Mrs. Cole, deserve all the laudatory remarks heard concerning them.
