The ’Buds re-entered State League for the 2019 season finishing eighth in State 5, not competing in a pandemic-ravaged 2020 then seventh in an interrupted 2021 before hitting rock bottom last year. SOCCER SCOTTISH striker Rory Currie arrived in Melbourne last week to bolster Mornington’s 2023 promotion push. The Seagulls have had the 24-year-old on their radar since last year and agreed terms with him months ago but have been keeping the move under wraps. South East United had withdrawn from State 5 South as FV screened the applicants thereby reducing the competition to 10 teams so the inclusion of the two local clubs restores the league’s 12-team format.
