Speedster stopped by Somerville HWP and Police AirWing

The Police Airwing and Somerville Highway Patrol (HWP) removed a speeding drug driver from our roads in Frankston early this morning.

Police from the air detected the black Holden SS Commodore travelling at excessive speeds on the Monash Freeway, EastLink and then towards the Peninsula about 4.15am.

Somerville HWP caught up with the 36-year-old woman on Sky Road who was detected by the air wing travelling in excess of 180km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The woman also furnished a positive preliminary oral fluid test for drugs.

The Frankston woman, who told police she wanted to get home to her kids, is expected to be charged on summons with drug driving, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and driving in a manner dangerous and speed dangerous.

Her car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1390.
