Police are investigating following a fatal crash in Pearcedale yesterday afternoon. Emergency services were called to Baxter-Tooradin Road to reports a car had struck a tree about 1.20pm The driver, a 64-year-old Frankston man, was transported to hospital where he sadly died. It is believed the vehicle was travelling east prior to the crash, which occurred shortly after West Road. ARTISTS taking part in this year’s Big Picture Fest have contributed another 13 huge murals to Frankston’s growing portfolio of street art. There are now 56 murals up across the Frankston municipality. The number has been growing since the Big Picture Fest first began five years ago. One of the artists who worked on a mural this year was Jessica Kease, also known as 23rd Key. MORE than 10,000 trips have been taken around Frankston on the new orange e-bikes available for hire. 150 pedal-assisted bikes from Neuron Mobility have been put around Frankston as part of a 12 month trial. Since the trial started in January there have been 10,500 trips taken by more than 9000 users. The most popular pick up points include the Visitors Information Centre, Strike Bowling, and the Frankston Railway Station. MORE arrests have been made in relation to a series of fires at tobacco stores in the last eight months. A fire at a Lakeview Shopping Centre tobacco store on 9 February gutted multiple businesses. Two men were arrested in relation to the blaze on 7 March. As part of their investigation into three fires allegedly lit at tobacco stores, police have made five more arrests. POLICE allegedly found cannabis, pills, 1,4-Butanediol, and more than $5000 in cash during a raid of a Braeside house last week. Police executed the search warrant on Jarrah Drive on 22 March. As well as the cash and illicit substances police also allege that they seized knuckle dusters, fireworks, and flares.
