Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following a theft and stabbing at a Frankston shopping mall on Saturday.

It’s believed two unknown females stole items from a store in Station Street, about 3.55pm.

As the pair attempted to leave the store they were confronted by staff and a struggle ensued.

The staff member was overpowered by one of the females and she was able to flee from the shop, chased by the staff member.

A nearby man saw the commotion and attempted to detain the female.

As the female struggled with the man they fell to the ground and she produced a knife and stabbed the man in his left arm.

Both females escaped through a nearby shopping centre.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of two females they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
