A CAR enthusiast’s Ford XY GT sedan, a Nissan 350Z, as well as laptop computers, sound equipment and power tools valued at $80,000, were stolen from a Braeside factory, overnight Wednesday 2 November.

Thieves cut a wire fence behind the engineering factory in Bell Grove and forced a door off its hinges with a jemmy and sledgehammer before searching through cupboards and drawers.

The proprietor believes they may have used a tow truck or trailer to steal the 1970-72 yellow Ford XY – which was not driveable – as attempts had been made to start it. They were able to drive off in the blue Nissan 350Z. Roller doors at the front of the factory were up when he arrived next day. Police were told the alarm on the wall had been damaged and the CCTV camera had been tampered with.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
