A MAN was shot in the knee while riding his bike on the footpath near Southland, noon, Sunday 12 February.

The 42-year-old, of Moorabbin, told police he heard a loud bang but did not feel any pain and did not realise he had been shot until he arrived home with numbness in his knee and blood on his leg.

The man took himself to the Monash Medical Centre for treatment. Police said the wound was consistent with a gunshot. A single entry point extended from the medial side of the knee to an exit point on the lateral side. Investigations are continuing.
