POLICE are hunting a man who grabbed the arm of a 17-year-old Carrum Downs girl and tried to force her into his car.

Detective Senior Constable John Melhuish, of Frankston CIU, said the girl was walking along Carrington Cr, about midday on Tuesday 27 June, when the man driving a silver Mitsubishi sedan pulled up alongside her. He attempted to coax the girl into the car by offering her a lift home and then, when she refused, got out and grabbed her arm and tried to force her inside.

The girl resisted and ran home and police were called. She was wearing grey tracksuit pants, black singlet and was barefoot.

Detective Melhuish praised the girl for resisting the man advances. “She got home safely and so it was a good result.”

Anyone who saw the man or the girl is asked to call Detective Melhuish, 9784 5555, or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
