DETECTIVES say they intend to charge a Cheltenham man on summons with recklessly causing injury and possibly failing to stop after an accident on Centre Dandenong Rd, Cheltenham, 7.10pm, Sunday 19 November.

The 21-year-old allegedly drove off after the incident in which a white Hyundai hatch being driven by a 73-year-old man was knocked onto its side, trapping him.

The younger man handed himself in at Cheltenham police four days later – possibly after reading a Crime Stoppers report calling on him to come forward. He was interviewed and allowed to leave.

The older man was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
