DRONE technology brought out the best in photographer Joshua Brnjac with his bird’s eye view photograph winning best picture at this year’s Picture This award.

The 16-year-old used a drone to capture a surfer from above in his winning Lone Surfer, Into the Depths entry.

“The level of talent on show by our local youth is always inspiring and this year was no different,” Kingston mayor Cr Steve Staikos said.

The annual Picture This competition for photographers aged 12-25 is held by Kingston Youth Services.

This year’s runner-up was Joshua Ratten, 18, for a Lake Windermere photograph taken while hiking on Tasmania’s Overland Track.

Ella Crawford, 12, claimed third place with Trees of Life snapped at a friend’s farm in Victoria’s Otway Ranges.
