EDITHVALE Fire Brigade has received a $101,500 grant as part of a state government grants program.

The CFA enhancing volunteerism grant will be used to finalise completion of a new fire station on top of $4 million already allocated to the project.

“In opposition, I was part of the campaign to provide a new Edithvale Fire Station, and I’m proud to have delivered on that election commitment,” Mordialloc Labor MP Tim Richardson said.

“I’m excited that this station will be transformed into a brand new facility with four vehicle bays based on the feedback from the brigade.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the brigade serve the communities of Edithvale, Aspendale, Chelsea and Chelsea Heights with this completed new facility in the near future.”

Victorian Emergency Services Minister James Merlino said: “The CFA received hundreds of applications and undertook a robust assessment process to approve projects that address the key criteria.

“I congratulate all of the successful applicants and look forward to the second round of grants opening in June.”
