WORKS to remove level crossings at Carrum Station are underway, with the project set to temporarily wipe out parking at the station.

During February the station car park will be partially closed, before being closed entirely from March 9 until the completion of construction.

The station itself will be closed after the construction of a temporary rail track between Karrum Karrum Bridge and Eel Race Road.

Trains will run express past Carrum Station, while buses will be arranged to take passengers from Carrum to Seaford and Bonbeach stations.

Carrum MP Sonya Kilkenny said the works would “see trains running on a rail bridge through Carrum by early 2020.”

“Carrum is going to have a busy year and I thank residents and local businesses for their patience during construction. The removal of three dangerous and congested level crossings will make it safer and easier to get around this beautiful beachside suburb.”
