MAJOR works are underway to refurbish the Dingley Village Library and Harold Box Hall.
The library will be shut during 2019 while works are completed on the $5 million upgrades.
“Our community will enjoy fantastic new community facilities. These include an upgraded library, new outdoor space, improved community meeting rooms, new kiosk and kitchen, new maternal and child health rooms plus a new reception area,” the mayor Georgina Oxley said.
“Library members will be able to order and reserve books online free of charge and they will be delivered for pick-up from the Dingley Village Neighbourhood House next door. The Neighbourhood House will also have computers available for use and will run weekly Story Time Sessions.”
Over $4 million for the upgrades will be ratepayer funded, and $750,000 will come from a state government grants program.
Works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“The popular Tiny Tots Storytime Session will continue to run at 2.30pm on Mondays at the Neighbourhood Centre. You can also visit other nearby Kingston library branches with Westall and Parkdale both just a short drive away,” Cr Oxley said.
