FRANKSTON Police are appealing for information after a fire was started at a “disused” site on Playne Street.

Police were called after fire was lit by unknown offenders at around 4pm, 12 May. It is believed the offenders accessed the building and used cardboard to ignite a blaze.

Smoke from the fire entered the second story of the building.

The fire brigade attended and extinguished the fire. Frankston Police Senior Sergeant Warren Francis-Pester said “although the building is in disrepair, the structure has historical meaning to many in the Frankston community.” He appealed for witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
