A MAN has been arrested after crashing an allegedly stolen car in Mentone.

Police attended the Nepean Highway at Warrigal Road after reports that a Nissan Pulsar had crashed into the back of a stationary car at around 12.40am, 13 July. The Nissan was allegedly stolen.

Police said the driver of the Nissan fled, and the Dog Squad was called to assist in finding him. A 27-year-old Warranwood man was found hiding in the front garden of a nearby house.

The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment. Police said he was expected to be interviewed in relation to a number of offences including theft of motor car and theft from a motor car.
