A WOMAN has died after being hit by a car in Moorooduc, 31 October.

Police believe that several cars had stopped on the side of Peninsula Link at around 9pm after colliding with debris on the road. It is then believed that the woman got out of her car and was hit by another vehicle.

The 64-year-old Safety Beach woman died at the scene. A 43-year-old Elsternwick woman, 45-year-old Rosebud man, and 67-year-old Dromana woman from other vehicles were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and helped police with their inquiries. Police are still establishing the exact circumstances of the incident.

The fatality takes the state’s road toll for the year to 231, up from 173 at the same time in 2018.
