Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following a stalking incident which happened earlier this morning in Frankston North.
The incident occurred on Forest Drive when a 17-year-old Frankston girl was approached by a man just before 8.30am.
The victim told investigators that a man pulled up in a white van and allegedly asked her if she wanted a lift.
The victim declined his invitation and continued walking on her way to school.
The man drove into a side street as the victim was stopped by a traffic controller at a construction site.
While waiting to continue, the victim turned around and saw the man walking up behind her.
The victim, feeling threatened, quickly ran along Forest Road to her school where the incident was reported to police.
The van is believed to be a white Ford Transit van, with damage to the windscreen and curtains at the window.
Police have arrested a 38-year-old Frankston North man and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man or the van in the vicinity of Forest Drive at the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
