CARRUM Downs will soon be home to a new enclosed dog park.

A fenced area will be constructed in Sandfield Reserve. Council received an $87,000 grant from the state government to get started on the project.

Sandfield Reserve also features a playground, basketball court, and recently upgraded skatepark.

The fenced area for dogs will be the fifth constructed in the Frankston municipality. “This is great news for our community of dog lovers, who will soon have access to a secure space for their beloved fur family members to stretch their legs and get some fresh air,” the mayor Sandra Mayer said.

“Planning is currently underway for the new enclosed dog park, which will provide physical exercise and mental stimulation and also allow dog owners to learn to control their dog in a confined area. Preliminary project scoping and initial concept design is currently being undertaken, with community consultation seeking feedback on features of the new dog park to be underway in the coming months.”

The park is set to open in mid 2021.
