LOCAL playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment reopened last week, as COVID-19 restrictions were slightly relaxed.
Families were able to enjoy the play equipment again after the easing of restrictions at midnight on 13 September.
Kingston Council CEO Julie Reid confirmed that council had removed posters and cordoning tape from local playgrounds.
“While everyone is now free to use the playgrounds and gym equipment, we ask the community to continue to practice social distancing and wear their masks at all times, and to wash their hands regularly,” she said.
Skate parks and barbeque facilities remain closed under the current COVID-19 guidelines.
Council is also reopening four of its local libraries for express click and collect services.
From 5 October, click and collect will be available at Cheltenham, Parkdale, and Chelsea libraries. Clarinda Library will also offer books for express pickup from 12 October.
“Residents will soon be able to access their local library collection by reserving items from these select branches via the online catalogue, the Kingston Libraries’ app or by calling 1300 135 668,” Ms Reid said.
“While our digital library services have continued to operate during stage 4 lockdowns, we know that many community members are missing their access to hard copies of books, music and movies, and will be making reservations as soon as possible.
“Under the state’s existing restrictions, only residents within five kilometres of one of the branches offering express click and collect will be able to access this service and return items in the after hours chute which is open 24/7.”
Residents can start reserving books from 28 September.
