TWO men are expected to be charged over an alleged drag race on the Monash Freeway, around 7pm 29 January.

Police allege that a white Mercedes coupe and grey Mitsubishi Lancer weaved in and out of traffic while racing at speeds of 201 kmph.

The Mercedes was pulled over and the driver allegedly returned a breath test reading of 0.065. The driver, a 30-year-old man from Keysborough, had his licence immediately suspended and his car impounded for 30 days.

The next day, police arrested a 25-year-old Carrum Downs man who they believe was driving the Mitsubishi.

Both drivers are expected to be charged on summons with exceeding the speed limit, driving at a speed and manner dangerous. The Mercedes driver is expected to face an additional charge for drink driving.

Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
