BICYCLE thefts are on the rise.
Last month a TREK brand bicycle, pictured above, was stolen from the front yard of a Bonbeach home. The offender had to jump a fence and cut locks to steal the bike on 19 January.
A statement on the Kingston police eyewatch Facebook page read “Bayside suburbs in Kingston are experiencing an increase in the theft of bicycles from homes and public spaces. In most instances, bikes have been secured with locks. Police are aware that many of these bikes are being painted and resold via online sites such as Gumtree, Marketplace and eBay.”
“Please photograph your bike and any additional accessories, and record the serial number. You can also engrave your driver licence number under the frame. This can assist us to recover your bike if it is stolen.”
Anyone with information about the Bonbeach bike theft can contact Chelsea Police on 8773 3200 to report it.
