A SKYE man had his car impounded after being caught allegedly driving at more than double the speed limit, 27 March.

Police say they detected the man driving his Jeep Cherokee at 174 kmph in an 80 zone on Princes Highway in Clayton. The car was caught speeding at around 12.40am.

Police pulled the car over and spoke to the driver, a 36-year-old Skye resident. The vehicle was impounded for a month.

A police statement read that the driver “will be charged on summons with speed dangerous, manner dangerous, conduct endangering serious injury and conduct endangering life. He is expected to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.”
