A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car last week.

At around 12.50am in the early hours of 18 April, a man was attempting to flag down cars on Frankston-Dandenong Road in Carrum Downs. Police say the man stepped in front of a red Holden Commodore travelling north along the road.

The 49-year-old man was struck by the car. A police statement read that he “sustained serious injuries” and was taken to hospital.

The driver behind the wheel of the Holden Commodore was an 18-year-old Dandenong North resident. He stopped and assisted at the scene of the incident.

Officers from Somerville Highway Patrol are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. They want anyone with information to step forward.

Anyone who saw the man on the road prior to the incident or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 18000 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
