DURING a pandemic that changed life as we know it, people involved with the local Meals on Wheels program kept on working hard.
Some things have changed, with contactless delivery and other COVID safety measures introduced, but staff and volunteers have continued to deliver hot meals to residents.
The Meals on Wheels service delivers an average of 5,500 meals per month, which includes 1500 per month to charity Community Support Frankston.
Frankston councillor Brad Hill said “the service is incredibly important and that’s why redeployed council staff have filled any vacant volunteer shifts to ensure services continue without any impact to the recipients. Our clients still get freshly cooked hot meals Monday to Friday regardless of what level of lockdown we are in public holidays excepted.”
“The team processes requests for meals quickly and efficiently with a very short turnaround time to have meals delivered to homes. This ensures ongoing high quality, nutritional meals are supplied. The team work closely with CSF to provide meals to residents presenting each day for support.”
