NEW picnic tables are being installed for the summer.
Around 100 tables will be put up in a bid to help provide more outdoor seating space for residents.
Kingston mayor Steve Staikos said the plan would help local businesses trade outdoors. “With lockdowns now behind us, many businesses are taking it outdoors to welcome back customers and we encourage the community to shop local for supplies then enjoy a picnic at one of our parks or reserves,” Cr Staikos said. “The tables include unique QR codes, allowing users to scan for nearby traders.
“The picnic tables add to our footpath trading, parklet and outdoor dining pop up programs already in place.”
The tables will be installed by Kingston Council, and are funded through the state government’s COVIDSafe outdoor activation fund. Picnic tables will be at 28 reserves and parks throughout the municipality.
