COMMUNITY group and cold-water swimming enthusiasts – the Aspendale Otters – are taking part in Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day Dip, committing to a cold-water swim every day throughout August to raise funds for life-saving cancer research.
The group’s connection with Cancer Council was inspired by two close friends of the group, Anne and Ruth, who were both diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Anne passed away in late 2025, while Ruth continues her cancer journey.
Their fundraising culminated on Saturday 15 August with a community event at Aspendale Beach, bringing together swimmers, supporters and fellow dipping groups from across the region.
Daffodil Day Dip is Cancer Council’s nationwide cold-water challenge, encouraging Australians to brave the cold during August and fund breakthroughs in cancer research. It’s all part of its Daffodil Day campaign (which this year marks 40 years) and people can support by going to daffodilday.com.au
